Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Is this a new technology?

A.  Actually, QR Code was first introduced in 1994.  Rest in Peace is simply using a proven technology for a special purpose.

Q.  Is the information private?

A.  The QR Code can be read by many different devices.  So, the information you allow to be shared is open to the public.  But, that is what our intent is…to tell their story.  We just need to be aware of what we are making public.

Q.  Is MY Personal information private?

A.  Rest in Peace takes your privacy very seriously.  We do not sell or share any of your personal information.

Q.  How does Rest in Peace prevent data from being lost?

A.  Information contained in the data base and the Website are backed up regularly.  Copies of that back up data is kept on multiple computers, servers, and hard drives.  It is stored on both remote servers and locally to insure recovery in the event of any hardware or software failure.

Q.  How long will this system work?

A.  We know from history that everything is subject to obsolescence. The predecessor to  QR codes was the bar code.  The bar code was introduced in the early 1950s and is more widely used now than ever.  We are confident optical read codes will be a big part of our lives for the foreseeable future.
